Two book talks from Powell’s Books that may be of interest…

Two book talks from Powell’s Books, Inc. that may be of interest to nature/biology-minded folk in Portland:

Sunday, Nov 14th, 7:30pm (Powell’s City of Books in downtown): In The Darwinian Tourist: Viewing the World Through Evolutionary Eyes, biologist Christopher Wills takes us on a series of adventures that demonstrate how ecology/evolution have interacted to create the world we live in.

Tuesday, Nov 16th, 6pm (Bagdad Theater): Anarchy Evolution: Faith, Science, and Bad Religion in a World Without God is a provocative look at the collision between religion and science by Greg Graffin, a founding member of the cult punk band Bad Religion as well as a biology lecturer at UCLA.

I will be going to the first one, not sure about the second one. Powell’s calendar: http://www.powells.com/calendar/

  1. Thanks for heads up on these events! I would like to go to see Greg Graffin at the Bagdad. I liked Greg’s band, Bad Religion, back in the day. Bad Religion used to offer a small research grant to biology graduate students. I never applied, but thought that was SO cool of them.

I wish I could go to Graffin’s talk, but I have to work on Tuesday evening. He was on NPR’s Science Friday recently:
