This was Patrick and my first time at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park () in NE Portland, in mid-May. It is part of the Columbia Slough, and hence the place that the Columbia Slough Watershed Council uses a lot for environmental education. We signed up for a short evening canoe trip through the slough just east of the ponds. A coworker of mine and his son joined us and we had a great time, including exploring around the pond afterward.
