At the end of May, we took a quick trip to Newport on the Oregon coast, and visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium for the first time (photos). We did not stay in the grandest of hotels – a motel actually – but we did have this view from our balcony:
The first day, we arrived with time to get our room and have dinner at Georgie’s Beachside Grill:
Treasure chest for the kids:
The next morning we took a little walk on the beach, and Patrick had the opportunity to explore in some rocks:
Afton was only a few months away at this point:
Looking for treasures:
I have no idea what this is:
After the beach we headed to the aquarium:
“The Sea & Me” is a new exhibit at the Oregon Aquarium, and I was very pleased with how the displays encourage children to connect to nature.
After the aquairum, we played on another beach for a while. I ran out of batteries, so the few shots are from my phone. Pregnant Catherine was tired of walking around, so she took a nap in the car while Patrick and I put our feet in the sand. There was also a tall ship coming into Yaquina Bay.
