BOOK: Right Where You Are Now

Patrick and I attended the book launch party (pics) at Powell’s Books in Beaverton for Right Where You Are Now (website), written by Lisa Montierth and illustrated by Ashley Burke, and published by the Portland outfit Craigmore Creations in 2011. I shared the book before on my Darwin blog for the simple reason that it is about prehistoric life, geologic time, and evolution. The book asks the reader to imagine how the lansdcape and the animals that live in it were at different times in the past, “right where you are now.”

The appealing digital art looks mid-20th century while the scientific information is accurate.

Patrick and friend Jasper placed within the pages of the book:

A new video to promote the book places it in the children and nature movement: “Right where you are now, in the active imagination of a child, creatures from the ancient past are at play in the natural world of the present. Right where you are now, there is a world waiting to be explored. Inspire your children and family to explore the past and play in the present.” The video is simple and beautiful:

Right Where You Are Now is a favorite book on our shelf; I hope you’ll add it to yours, or your library’s!
