Marquam Mosaic public art project extends dates for volunteer opportunities

Today I received this from the Friends of Marquam Nature Park, as we participated earlier this month:

To Marquam Mosaic participants,

Thank you so much for being part of our exciting summer project! We hope you enjoyed the time you have spent working on the mosaic. This Marquam Mosaic has involved over 400 people so far. It has been an exciting process: bringing parents, grandparents, children, passing hikers, students, Parks staff, old friends, newly-found friends and foreign visitors to work together toward a common goal.

We would like to encourage you to come back again to get some more tiles on the wall! Help us complete the art in time for the September 28th dedication celebration. We are adding “Art in the Park” hours for the first 2 weeks of September. We will be working Sept. 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 from 10am-3pm. Please consider further developing your newly-learned mosaic skill. It gets easier the more you do it! The schedule and any last minute changes will be posted on our website at :

We look forward to seeing you at the Marquam Shelter Amphitheater sometime soon. Note that we DO work rain or shine. We have canopies to keep you dry and shaded from the sun as well. And remember to mark your calendar for the dedication celebration September 28, 2-3:30pm!

Thank you again,

– Robin Jensen and Lynn Takata,
